The Good Habit: the 1 Minute Plank

I never took the 30 day plank challenge, but I have managed to fit a simple and easy habit into my day: to plank (is that even a verb?) for 1 minute.

It is so easy, it´s almost stupid. But it feels like an achievement to me as, I really really really hate ab exercises, but realise that I do need to work on my belly.

The plank is one of the best exercises for core conditioning and it´s is a great alternative for us ab-haters. It even works your glutes and hamstrings, supports proper posture, and improves balance. So I figured, I should just make it a no brainer to plank for 60 seconds once a day.

And it is actually neither hard, nor difficult to fit in. Since last week I have incorporated it into my evening ritual, right after brushing my teeth. All right, it is not a fully established habit yet, this takes

anywhere between 18 days and 8.5 months!

yikes…

…but I am working on it.

I am really making an effort to stick with it and maybe I will up it to 1.5 minutes next week, to provide some sense of progress. I may also download an app, where I can log the planks or set myself an alarm, in case I forget to do it altogether…
